WEBC On-line

Thank you for visiting Wanganui East Baptist Church online. Our mission? "To know God and make Him known." It is our prayer that men, women and children from every walk of life may come to learn and experience the riches and joy of a life lived by God's grace and power through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We invite you to explore the ministries and resources available to you here on our website. We meet every Sunday at 10:00am to worship our God and King and to hear His Word proclaimed.

What are we preaching?

We believe in faithfully preaching God's Word - as it is the main means whereby people are changed - as the Holy Spirit makes God's inspired Truth come alive in our hearts.

Calvyn Jonker is preaching through Luke in a series called "Follow Me" (after working through 1 Peter & Malachi). Dave Tastard is in Ephesians (after completing James) and Micheal Newland has been working through Jonah. Brent Siddall, a guest preacher, is working through Daniel. All these sermons are available for download or streaming on our website.

We invite you to join us this Sunday as we worship and serve our wonderful risen Saviour. Please stay after the service to enjoy coffee and fellowship!

  • Home Groups (a wide variety meeting during the week)
  • Youth Ministries (every Friday @ 7pm)
  • Senior Citizens Ministries  (bi-weekly service & social outreach)
  • Community Outreach (services in retirement & care centers; friendship lunches; 'littlies' playgroup, evangelism outreaches at public events)

Our Purpose

Loving and glorifying God; Growing our relationship with God; Supporting each other in our daily walk; Living out 'Christ in us' to those with whom we come into contact; Supporting those in other places who are making the Gospel known.

Our Vision

"To Know God and to Make Him known"

What can you expect when visiting webc?

About 160 people attend Wanganui East Baptist each Sunday, all from a range of ages and backgrounds. Dress style also ranges all the way from casual attire to formal suit and tie. Worship music is a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary music, however it does differ from Sunday to Sunday.

The services last for about an hour and a half, and afterwards there is a morning tea where we encourage you to have a cup of tea or coffee and get to meet a few people. During the service, the pastor / service leader may ask people to greet those around you, however you won't be singled out as a visitor. Also, an offering bag will be passed around during the service, but please feel free to let this pass by.

Junior Church is available during the service for ages up to intermediate school. For more detailed information please visit our page on Children's Ministries.
